Heavy rains are forecast for regions of Chiapas, Oaxaca and Veracruz

Today, Saturday, the hot to very hot environment will continue in much of Mexico, with maximum temperatures of 40 to 45 degrees Celsius in Campeche, Chiapas, Colima, Guerrero, Jalisco, Michoacán, Nayarit, Oaxaca, Tabasco, Veracruz and Yucatán.

Likewise, temperatures of 35 to 40 degrees Celsius are expected in Hidalgo, Morelos, Nuevo León, the north and southwest of Puebla, Quintana Roo, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, Sinaloa and Tamaulipas, and 30 to 35 degrees Celsius in the west of Coahuila, Durango, the southwest of the State of Mexico, Guanajuato, southern Sonora and southern Zacatecas.

In contrast, at dawn minimum temperatures of -5 to 0 degrees Celsius and frosts were recorded in mountainous areas of Baja California, Chihuahua and Durango, and 0 to 5 degrees Celsius with possible frosts in the mountains of Baja California Sur, State of Mexico, Sonora and Zacatecas.

Heavy rains (25 to 50 millimeters [mm]) are forecast for regions of Chiapas, Oaxaca, and Veracruz; intervals of showers (from 5 to 25 mm) for Hidalgo, Puebla, San Luis Potosí and Tamaulipas, and isolated rains (from 0.1 to 5 mm) for Campeche, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Nuevo León, Quintana Roo, Querétaro and Tlaxcala.

Heavy rains could increase the levels of rivers and streams, as well as generate landslides and flooding in low-lying areas of these entities.

Winds with gusts of 50 to 70 kilometers per hour (km/h) and dust storms are expected in Coahuila, Durango, Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí, Tamaulipas and Zacatecas.

The indicated meteorological conditions will be generated by a low pressure channel extended over the northeast, east and southeast of Mexico, in combination with the ingress of moisture from the Pacific Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico and by a new Cold Front that will approach the northern border. of the country, which will interact with a dry line over Coahuila and the subtropical jet stream.

For the Baja California Peninsula, fog is forecast on the west coast of the peninsula, a cool morning environment in the region and cold to very cold conditions with possible frosts in mountainous areas, as well as a warm environment in the afternoon. Clear to partly cloudy skies and a northwest wind of 20 to 35 km/h with gusts of up to 40 km/h are forecast.

The atmospheric conditions for the North Pacific will be a temperate morning environment on the coasts of the region and cold in the mountainous areas of Sonora, as well as a hot to very hot environment in the afternoon. Clear to partly cloudy skies and a southwest wind of 20 to 30 km/h are expected, with gusts of up to 40 km/h.

For the Central Pacific, a temperate environment is estimated during the morning and from very hot to extremely hot in the afternoon. Partly cloudy skies are forecast during the day and a northwesterly wind from 10 to 25 km/h, with gusts of up to 40 km/h on the coasts of Jalisco.

In the South Pacific there will be a warm morning environment in coastal areas, a temperate environment in the region's mountains and extremely hot in the afternoon. Partly cloudy skies are forecast during the morning with fog banks in mountainous areas, cloudy skies in the afternoon, electric shocks in Chiapas and Oaxaca, as well as variable direction wind with gusts of up to 50 km/h on the coasts of the region.

For the slope of the Gulf of Mexico, a warm morning environment is forecast in coastal areas, temperate with fog banks in mountainous areas and very hot to extremely hot in the afternoon. Partly cloudy to cloudy skies are forecast during the day, electrical discharges in Tamaulipas and Veracruz, as well as east and northeast winds from 10 to 25 km/h, with gusts of 50 to 70 km/h and dust storms in Tamaulipas.

The forecast for the Yucatan Peninsula is for clear skies with a warm atmosphere in the morning, partly cloudy skies and a very hot to extremely hot environment in the afternoon, and variable direction winds with gusts of up to 50 km/h in the region.

The forecasts for the Mesa del Norte are cold to very cold in the morning, with frosts in the mountains of Chihuahua, Durango and Zacatecas, as well as hot to very hot in the afternoon.
